Kwang Yong Song

Chung Ang University
Korea

Kwang Yong Song received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D degrees in physics from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 1996, 1998, and 2003, respectively. His research topic in KAIST was mode coupling devices for few-mode optical fiber. In 2003 he moved to Nanophotonics and Metrology Laboratory in Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland as an academic host, to study distributed fiber sensors and slow light based on optical fibers. In 2005, he joined in the dept. of electronic engineering in the University of Tokyo as a research fellow to study optical fiber sensors. In 2007, he became an assistant professor in dept. of physics, Chung-Ang University, South Korea, where he works as a full professor from 2016. His research interests include distributed fiber sensors, few-mode/multi-core fiber devices, and nonlinear fiber optics. He served as a guest editor of Applied Sciences in 2017-2018, and TPC member of several international conference. He is an author or co-author of more than 170 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers.

For JLT he is handling submissions on the following topics:

  • Optical Fiber Sensors
  • Specialty Optical Fibers and Applications
