Dora van Veen is a distinguished member of technical staff and is part of the leadership team for the Fixed Networks Research Group at Nokia Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ USA. She received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands.
She has been the Principle Investigator in a team that has developed early system demonstrations and has done research on several generations of Passive Optical Networks. Dr. van Veen’s research has focused on many aspects of the physical layer in optical access, resulting in numerous conference and journal papers as well as patents. Dora also contributes to standardization of PON by IEEE and ITU-T.
She co-chaired and co-organized 2019 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topical Meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, FL USA and served as a member of the Technical Program Committee for the European Conference on Optical Communication.
Her current research interests include high speed PONs, developing methods for reducing cost and energy consumption in optical access systems, and next generation optical access in general.
For JLT she is handling submissions on the following topics:
• High speed PON
• Optical access networks
