Pengfei Wang is a Professor at the School of Physics, Northeast Normal University (NENU), China. He received his PhD in Optical Engineering from Technological University Dublin (TUD), Ireland, in November 2008. From May 2003 to July 2004, he served as a Research Associate for the European Space Agency at the Institute of Microelectronics and Microsystems, Italian National Research Council. In 2009, he joined TUD’s Photonics Research Centre (PRC) as an Irish Government “EMPOWER” Postdoctoral Researcher. Between 2010 and 2013, he conducted research at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK, supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. He was appointed as a Senior Research Fellow (Tenured) at the PRC in 2013.

In September 2015, Professor Wang founded the Advanced Laser Lab at Harbin Engineering University, where he served as a distinguished professor. Since January 2024, he has been a distinguished professor in Optics at NENU. His research interests span mid-infrared fiber lasers, novel optical glass materials, fiber optic sensors, integrated optics, and computational photonics. To date, he has authored and co-authored over 300 publications in international journals and conferences, with more than 7,000 citations and a Google Scholar h-index of 43. Professor Wang is a Fellow of Optica (formerly OSA) and a lifetime Marie Curie Fellow.
