Taiji Sakamoto received the B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees from Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka, Japan, in 2004, 2006, and 2012, respectively. In 2006, he joined NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories, Ibaraki, Japan, where he has been engaged in research on optical fiber technologies for high capacity transmission such as few-mode fiber, multicore fiber, holey fiber, or nonlinear/dispersion control. He is currently a Distinguished Researcher of NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan. He has authored or co-authored more than 170 articles published in international journals and conference proceedings. He has served as a technical committee member for OFC(2019–2022). He has served as an Editor or Project leader for international standards on optical fibers in ITU-T and IEC. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE photonics society, and Optica.
For JLT, he is handling submissions on the following topics:
- Optical fiber technologies for communication
- Optical amplifiers and fiber based devices
- Fiber nonlinear optics
- Fiber design and measurement technologies
